Does international luggage need a TSA lock?
A TSA-compatible lock allows authorised security personnel in participating systems to inspect and relock baggage without cutting the lock. It is useful, but it does not replace a strong zip, sensible packing or travel insurance.
Check total dimensions and empty weight
International fares may limit checked baggage by weight, piece count, total linear dimensions or a combination. A large suitcase can be within the size rule and still become expensive if its own weight reduces the usable allowance.
How we built this shortlist
- TSA-lock evidenceWe credited a TSA lock only when the cited listing stated it; generic combination locks were not treated as equivalent.
- Size-risk reviewThe smallest and largest cases were checked for cabin-height and oversized-check-in risk respectively.
- Variant clarityGrouped listings with changing sizes or prices receive a verification warning rather than an unqualified recommendation.
- Availability disciplineOut-of-stock products are labelled as watchlist benchmarks and do not outrank currently available options.
